What kinds of small roof repairs does Honest Roofers handle?
We handle all kinds of small repairs on both sloped and flat roofs. Many homeowners put off calling about a small problem because they assume a roofing company will not want the job. That is not how we work. Here are some of the smaller repairs we take care of:
- Missing or damaged shingles after wind or a storm
- Leaking pipe flashings, where the rubber boot around a plumbing vent has cracked
- Chimney flashing leaks where the roof meets the chimney
- Skylight leaks around the frame or flashing
- Loose or damaged roof vents
- Small flat roof leaks on porches, carports, and additions
- Damage from fallen limbs, which is common with the tall pines in our area
- Gutter repairs and new gutter installs
You can see more on our roof repair page, which covers repairs on sloped and flat roofs. If you have a skylight issue, our post on skylight repair, replacement, and installation walks through the options.
Why do some roofing companies turn down small jobs?
Some roofing companies focus mostly on full replacements, so a small repair may not fit their schedule or business model. That can leave homeowners in Loris and other parts of western Horry County searching for a roofer near me and getting no callbacks for a simple fix.
At Honest Roofers, we see it differently. A small repair done right protects your home, and it builds trust. Jeremy Coleman started this company to treat people honestly, and that means helping with the small stuff too. When a homeowner calls about a single leak, we come out, find the cause, and fix it if a repair is the right answer.
Small leaks are worth fixing quickly. Water that gets past the roof surface can soak into the deck, insulation, and ceiling drywall. A drip that seems minor today can lead to rot and mold over time, especially in our warm, humid climate. Fixing it early usually keeps the job small.
How do I know if my problem is a small repair or something bigger?
The only way to know for sure is an inspection, but there are some clues. A problem limited to one spot on a roof that is otherwise in good shape is usually a repair. Problems spread across the roof, or a roof that keeps leaking after patches, often point to a bigger issue.
Usually a small repair
- A few shingles blown off in a storm
- One stain on the ceiling under a vent pipe
- A leak around a chimney or skylight on a newer roof
- A small area damaged by a branch
Often a sign of a bigger problem
- Shingles curling, cracking, or losing granules across the whole roof
- Multiple leaks, or leaks that return after repairs
- Soft or sagging areas that suggest deck damage
- A roof at or past the typical age for asphalt shingles
In our content, we use 15 to 20 years as the average lifespan of an asphalt roof. If your roof is in that range and showing wear in many places, patching it again may only buy a little time. We will always show you photos and explain what we see. Our post on why everyone needs an honest roof assessment explains how we approach this.
Not Sure If It Is a Repair or Something More?
Jeremy will show you photos, explain your options in plain language, and never pressure you to sign.

What happens if my roof needs a full replacement instead?
If a repair will not solve the problem, we will tell you honestly and walk you through what a full roof replacement involves. You decide what to do, on your own timeline. There is never any pressure to sign right away.
When we replace a pitched roof, we follow the same proven process:
- Tear off all old material down to the deck. We never roof over old shingles, because going over doubles the weight and hides problems.
- Repair the deck wherever wood is damaged.
- Install drip edge along the roof edges.
- Install Ice and Water Shield along the lower edge, covering the first 3 feet.
- Install synthetic underlayment, never tarred felt.
- Install shingles, all new pipe flashings, and proper roof vents or ridge vent.
- Address chimney flashing and skylights as needed.
Our preferred shingle is Atlas Pinnacle Pristine with 3M Scotchgard algae protection, which carries a lifetime guarantee against black algae streaks. We can install all brands. For low slope areas with a pitch of 2/12 or lower, we install EPDM rubber membrane. Learn more on our full roof replacement page and our EPDM flat roof page.
A new roof is a big decision, and a good roofing company near me should help you understand it, not rush you through it. That is how we handle every replacement, whether the call started with a small leak or a storm.
What should I do while I wait for a small roof repair?
Protect the inside of your home, keep track of what you see, and stay off the roof. A small leak can usually be managed for a short time with a few simple steps:
- Put a bucket or container under the drip, and move furniture, rugs, and electronics out of the way.
- If water is pooling in a bulging spot on the ceiling, keep people away from that area and call us right away.
- Take photos of the stain or drip and note when it happens, such as only during heavy rain or only with wind from a certain direction. Those details help us find the source faster.
- From the ground, look for missing shingles, a fallen branch, or debris in the gutters.
- If the leak is active and getting worse, ask about emergency tarping to protect the home until the repair is done.
Please do not climb onto the roof yourself. Wet shingles are slippery, and a fall is never worth the risk. For urgent situations, our post on emergency roofers you can count on explains what to do first.
Why choose a local roofer near me for a small repair?
A local roofer is easier to reach, knows the weather here, and has a reputation to protect in the community. In Loris, that means working with someone who understands summer thunderstorms, hurricane season from June to November, and the way pine needles and humidity affect a roof.
